Podcast has been released on 18th of December 2024.

The podcast discusses the significance of international student projects for career development. In addition to the project leader, Anneli Kakko, the discussion includes Juhani Salonen and Arturo Lopez. They have participated in the projects first as students and later as company representatives.

Juhani Salonen works as an industrial designer at Valmet. Juhani mentions that he gained skills from international projects that are necessary in working life and cannot be practiced in traditional courses. The most important of these is solving real company problems in an international environment.

Arturo Lopez is the Co-CEO of the Spanish Integracion Sensorial y Robotica company and has a background in industrial engineering. Arturo says he participated in two international projects because he wanted to get close to industry, companies, and real-life problem-solving. Project work, teamwork, and international skills gave him practical experience and created new career opportunities for him. He recommends international projects to all students.

Anneli Kakko has been guiding student projects at Jamk for 20 years. In the podcast, Anneli answers students’ most common questions related to practical implementation, funding, and language skills, and discusses the importance of projects for students’ employment and career development.

The podcast emphasizes that international projects not only develop technical skills but also social and cultural skills, which are important in working life. Students learn to work in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams, better preparing them for an international work environment.
